" New Year's Day ... "

All is quiet on New Year's Day
A world in white gets underway ...

Under a blood red sky
A crowd has gathered in black and white
Arms entwined, the chosen few
The newspapers says, says
Say it's true it's true...
And we can break through
Though torn in two
We can be one

And so we're told this is the golden age
And gold is the reason for the wars we wage ...

Nothing changes
On New Year's Day
On New Year's Day

Happy New Year and welcome to 2013.  An opportunity to start fresh and possibly turn a new leaf ... depending on your perspective ... are you an optimist or a cynic?

Well last night we had an opportunity to ring in the new year with many little ones at our house party.  So my perspective ... optimist.  Experiencing the simple joy of children, dancing and partying, uninhibited, is truly amazing.  I feel children provide a healing energy.  Pure love.

Now there may be some reading this rolling you eyes.  To each their own ... but I guess it is safe to say that the eye rollers are cynics?

Cynicism stems from an issue of trustworthiness ...
believing others are more selfishly motivated
and less helpful than they really are.

I believe experience breeds optimism or cynicism.  Your positive experiences have to out weigh the negative ones.  And we all have negative ones ... betrayal tends to make you avoid trusting others.  But you never find out how trustworthy people in general really are.  As a result, our estimation of others is governed by fear ... we don’t want to be vulnerable ever again.

You know the saying ... what you put out there you receive ten-fold.  What is the energy you are giving off?  What are you attracting in your life?  If it is working for you, you are content and happy with your relationships, your career and the direction you are headed, congratulations you have figured it out.  But I think most of us are looking for improvements ... just take all the resolutions out there.  Are not some of them unrealistic though, setting ourselves up, knowing full well that they cannot be attained ... a self full-filing prophecy with the opportunity to say “I told you so, or I knew that would happen”.

Maybe you know what is going to happen because
subconsciously you already asked for it ...

For me ... I’ll try and try again.  Some may think foolish and others may think child like.  But after witnessing one of the best New Year Eve’s ever, I’ll continue to take my chances and put myself out there ... with hopes that another year's positive experiences will out weigh the negative ones.
