" Stuck Like Glue ... "

Absolutely no one who knows me better
No one that can make me feel so good
How did we stay so long together?
When everybody said we never would

There you go making my heart beat again
Heart beat again, heart beat again
There you go making me feel like a kid
Won't you do it, do it one time? ...

Whoa-oh, whoa-oh, stuck like glue ...
Some days I don't feel like trying
Some days you know I wanna just give up
When it doesn't matter who's right ...
Everybody want some

Stuck, stuck like glue ... stuck-ness ... finding yourself feeling disappointed, deflated, burnt out, overwhelmed and alone.  I use to think that being stuck was similar to procrastinating.  Yet what I am learning is that being stuck serves a spiritual purpose ... an opportunity for transformation.

“ ... the key to moving forward when you find yourself stuck is to allow yourself to stay painfully aware of your feeling of being stuck, because awareness is the first step in changing anything. Do whatever you need to do to break through that stuck feeling. Get help if you need it ... “

Stuck-ness is a message, loud and clear, that you need a change.  And it isn’t about waiting around for that lucky break or miracle, it is about change of ... habits, priorities, perspective and heart.  Stuck-ness invites growth and expansion.  Stuck-ness is impermanent like everything else.

Sometimes we don’t even know we are stuck until what worked before doesn’t work anymore ... change is needed to see where we can soften and open up.

The good news is that you are not alone.  Everyone feels stuck at some time or another because it is a part of the human life cycle giving us a message that something has to give.  So how do you get un-stuck?

Begin with unconditional acceptance.  Accept where you are today.  Not what you could do and where you where you were.  When you change your relationship to what you feel, you release your resistance to it, allowing a shift and transformation to take place.  And don’t mistake acceptance with being passive, it is the key to empowerment.  Next let go and surrender because surrendering is a door opener.  It initiates the process of letting go of our personal limitations and aligning with an intelligence that is greater than us.

And, remember to ask for support.  There are no brownie points for martyrdom, so just ASK!  Finding a strategic approach to doing things differently can be supported by like minded people.  That force in your corner, that voice that helps you see your progress as well as when you are getting off track, letting you know what you need to hear, not what to hear.  It is not about looking for perfection or feeling guilty and shame for where you are because that only once purpose ... to keep you in the muck.

" Upgrade .. "

I used to wonder why ...
Often I felt alone
Then you spent an entire day telling me how I rate
I wish I should have known ...

Take a look, a closer one
Ask, Yeah the stranger you're seeing is me
Now I refuse to settle for anybody anymore ...

Oh, I've been forced to draw a line in the sand
For myself I'm taking a stand
If I fall again, that is if I can, oh oh
I'm gonna get myself an upgrade
An upgrade
An upgrade ...

We live in a time when there are constant upgrades for phones, computers, TV’s, so how about upgrading your life?

Where is your mind?
We are constantly surviving negative, stressful events as we detect, imprint and catalogue them.  We know that when we put our attention on something it increases ... we tune our attention in a certain way, we initiate a glow of biochemicals that carve brain pathways for more neurons to travel more easily down the same path the next time around.  At the same time, our attitude and focus also create a subconscious template of perception that filters the millions of incoming bits of life’s information and captures those bits that match our initial proposition.

What about the linear path of life?
Usually we follow in the footsteps of our parents ~ go to school, get a job, get married, have kids, get more money, acquire things, get more money, acquire more things and then ... the same well-worn paths.

Yet we have the opportunity to pave our own paths and create their our own futures instead of being bound by the old system with its old rules.  We cannot expect different results if we continue with the same process.  New paradigm.

It’s time for an upgrade ...

Upgrade by self-creating ... when we focus on our consciousness towards gratitude and beauty, we weave peace into our cells, a cell regeneration if you will.  And that is a good thing because about one percent of all of our cells die and are replaced every day.  So within three months at a cellular level, we have new bodies.
Upgrade by perspective ... how you perceive daily life, with appreciation or frustration, with gratitude or discontent, joy or sadness.  We have the power to grow and cultivate a peaceful environment.  And of course this is not a novel idea, we are always creating or re-creating in our lives.  Habitual patterns of thinking or reacting is similar to a computer ... you can un-install the programs you don’t like and permanently affect your hard drive aka mind.

Growth can be messy, painful and inconvenient at times, yet stagnation will eventually zap the life right out of you.  Once you get tired of the status quo, embrace your creativity.  It is what drives you forward.  You will start to envision your future and you will stop living in a state of managed dissatisfaction ... look for ways, take risks and embrace failures because it is a time to grow, reflect, reinvent and ultimately push forward in new directions.

So what’s stopping YOU from upgrading your life?
