" Tolerate ... "

Try to see the way around you
I can't find it
Try to take the path behind me
Can't rewind it
Stick your finger in my face and
I will break it
Leave me with an after taste
I live for it

I try
Tolerate

~ Staind ~ Tolerate ~

We’ve heard that life is to be enjoyed and appreciated, not endured.  Then why does it seem that most are just “tolerating” it?

You may understand what I mean.  It is hard to stay in a space of peace, calm and clarity when chaos is in your environment.  Blame it on work, marriage, school, family … we tend to go thru the motions.  We fake it till we make it … we tolerate.

We tolerate behaviours in others and ourselves …

We tolerate people who are purposely difficult.
choice … life gets easier when you remove those who make it difficult

We tolerate and attempt to live up to the expectations of others.
choice … do your best and create the time towards your true destiny

We tolerate and share our victim story
choice … life is too short to spend at war with yourself

We tolerate and romanticize and hold on to the past.
choice … you are not your past failures or habits, learn from your regrets and live beyond your fears

We tolerate our excuses.
choice … just do it and let your actions speak for themselves

We deserve to be happy and live a life that we are excited about.  So don’t let others make you forget that.  Just because someone else’s life is in chaos, that they are going thru the motions, and tolerating life … you don’t have to.  Reflect on the person you are capable of being … joyful moments of self-discovery, passionate endeavours, playing and standing up for what you believe in.  Strive for your time of living as a life fully living rather than just tolerating.

" Happy … "

It might seem crazy what I’m about to say
Sunshine she’s here, you can take a break
I’m a hot air balloon that could go to space
With the air, like I don’t care baby by the way ...

Bring me down… can’t nothing…
Bring me down… my level's too high…
Bring me down… can’t nothing…
Bring me down, I said (let me tell you now) ...

Because I’m happy
Clap along if you feel like a room without a roof
Because I’m happy
Clap along if you feel like happiness is the truth
Because I’m happy
Clap along if you know what happiness is to you
Because I’m happy
Clap along if you feel like that’s what you wanna do

There seems to be a constant reminder regarding the ticking of most women’s biological clocks ... with one purpose only and that is to have children.  Yet, there are many of us that live a full and satisfactory life without them.  And thankfully, it is widely accepted by free thinking women that it is quite alright to not reproduce.  Giving it some thought being Mother’s Day, I felt safe enough to write about why some don’t.
Recently I had a conversation with a couple of girlfriends.  Both getting married, one was interested in children and the other ... not so much.
Her reason ... over population.

Coming from a place of curiosity rather than judgement, maybe it is possibly that not having children means two people are making a choice regarding conception and not letting it choose them.

Personally speaking, I LOVE children and have my entire life ... but loving children and RAISING children are completely different.  And oddly, people automatically assume you have sadness from not having children and your life is hollow.  That you marriage may be unfulfilled due to not having reproduced and even possibly a shame because you have not procreated ... yes there are still those views out there.

“Not having children means a couple is able enjoy together humanity’s insightful conquest of nature”

So whether you are a Mom or celebrating your Mom … appreciate their desire, passion and yearning to have YOU.  Today is a day to celebrate THEIR love, guidance, support, comfort, nurturing and sacrifices.  I think of all the women in my life who have provided these elements for me during my life and I thank them on this day ... please honour yourself for what you have given and continue to give to others in your life.

" Streamline ... "

But I can't see you 'cross the streamline
My love waits for me in daytime
But I can't see you through the snowblind

But I wasn't there for you
You are gone
Goodbyes are long
Goodbye ...

Well, I know time reveals in hindsight
I can't wrestle with the stormy night
Because your love lasts a lifetime ...

You are gone ...
Goodbyes are long

Spring, the time of year when we can dig deep, take stock of what we have and de-clutter.  A time of year to streamline ... your closets, your home and your life.  Yes, your life ... the perfect time to look at the people you surround ourselves with and streamline.
It’s great to have a lot of friends, but it can be exhausting to work at friendships that don’t offer much in return.  You begin to understand that quality far outweighs the quantity of friendships.  So you contemplate “streamlining” your friends.  But do you have the courage to do it?
Most of the time we hold onto people because of a distant memory of how they were rather than come to terms with who they are.  We are afraid of reality, afraid of being alone and afraid to tell the truth.
Remember the saying ... “no matter what happens, you should never burn a bridge”.  What an interesting thing to say so absolutely.  But aren’t there times when burning a bridge could be a good thing?  Aren’t there times you get the best light from a burning bridge?
Who we let into our lives is a choice ...
The very nature of being human means being social.  We are what we are in relation to other people.  Family, friends, co-workers, etc.  We need other people in order to become fully functioning.  We learn love, empathy, support, encouragement, honesty, commitment, respect and trust.  We learn to grow from each other and the experiences amongst us.  These connections fulfill us by bringing meaning into our lives.
Finishing unfinished business is a satisfying feeling ...
Yet, if you then start to observe every relationship as a Divine connection, you understand that there are times when connections have served their purpose.  There was a reason or a lesson ... possibly to teach each other or learn from each other.  But when you start to ask “what’s in it for me?” rather than “what can I do for others?” it may be time to move on.

So get the courage to streamline ... to make changes and not excuses, to be motivated and not manipulated and to be useful and not used ... so that you can open yourself to all the new that is waiting for you.
